Service Routing

The main benefit of these metal web rafters (or roof joists as some call them!) is their ability to route services quickly and effortlessly. Unlike a solid rafter that requires drilling or notching, a Posi-Rafter features gaps between and within the webs, allowing virtually infinite routing.

Strength

Another benefit of a Posi-Rafter is its strength and stiffness. These metal web rafters will span further and provide greater stiffness than solid timber alternatives, allowing greater design freedom.

Lightweight

Despite their increased strength and stiffness, Posi-Rafters are lighter than solid timber and can often be lifted into place by hand, negating the need for expensive machinery—especially useful in tight streets or where access is limited.

Wide Variety

Posi-Rafters are available in a multitude of depths, from 202mm to 421mm, and in various widths too, providing plenty of design flexibility.

Whether you're a complete beginner with no knowledge of the industry building a small extension or a seasoned veteran constructing multiple homes, our MiTek trained designers will effortlessly turn your requirements into clear, lifelike designs, allowing you to view 3D models of your proposed project with Posi-Rafters in place. Our design team are on hand to assist you with every step of your project, from initial enquiry through to installation. Below you'll find an interactive 3D model that you can browse around.

We have some of the best toys in the industry. We have invested over £2.5M in our brand new facility and have used almost 20 years of manufacturing experience to ensure it does exactly what we want. It’s the secret to turning your project around in as little as 5 days.

Our Saws

We run two Hundegger saws from Germany. These saws are truly incredible, allowing us to cut the timber for your Posi-Joists at an astonishing pace whilst achieving pin-point accuracy. The saws are fed directly from our design office and will optimise the use of every length of timber for minimal waste.

Assembling the Joists

Once the timber components are cut, they're moved to one of our Posi presses. Our skilled assemblers will then set out the timbers on the press. The timbers are then clamped by the press to ensure they are perfectly straight and the correct depth is maintained. The steel webs are then accurately positioned in place and pressed, completing the Posi-Rafter.

Timber Quality

Even the timber we use is specific to roof trusses and metal web joists and rafters. It's sourced from Sweden, where the cold climate ensures the tree grows slow and straight, resulting in a higher quality and more consistent product. The grading is called TR26, and is unlikely to be found at any builders merchants.

Delivery

Once the manufactured components are ready, other items such as metalwork, bracing and any additional timber will be picked to complete your order. The project is then loaded onto one of our vehicles for delivery straight to your site. From the point of confirming your order with us, we can deliver your floor joists in just 5 working days.

Manufacturing

After a designer has produced a design and you've approved it, it will be sent down to our factory to be manufactured. The timber will be cut using one of two of our Hundegger saws, then constructed by one of our skilled assemblers. Each Posi-Rafter is constructed to millimetre-perfect specifications and made using the highest quality TR26 timber.
