Posi-Joists are a lighter, stronger, faster and higher performing way to construct a floor or roof. Featuring a mixture of high-quality TR26 timber and stainless steel webs that are only available to MiTek licensed manufacturers, these joists clear span up to 7.7 metres and allow services to be easily routed through the webs. Manufactured in our specialist facility in Herefordshire using state-of-the-art machinery, Posi-Joists are incredibly accurate, fast to install and lightweight, weighing a fraction of what a solid timber alternative would. Additionally, they are able to maintain high levels of stiffness over massive spans with little to no central supports.

"I purchased a Posi Joist flat roof system from Tailor Made Designs for a domestic single story extension. From the moment I first contacted them they were fantastic. Owain and Philip gave superb advice and the quote included detailed plans, structural calculations and a 3D model which made so easy to understand. I think using Posi joists saved well over a week and a half of time and labour costs. Thank you Philip and Owain for all your help and advice and if I ever need to build another roof again I will come to you and I will recommend you to everyone!"

Posi-Joists ordered online are intended for domestic floors only or flat roofs with a build up weight not exceeding 100kg per m2. Contact us for other Posi-Joist requirements.

We offer a comprehensive design, 3D model and detailed layouts for all Posi-Joist orders. All necessary strongback bracing is also included in the price above.

Step 1: Measure Your Building

Measure your building to assess what span you'll need your Posi-Joists to be and how many joists you'll need. You can either space your joists at 400 or 600 centres. If you're unsure, give us a ring and we'll talk you through it. It only takes a few minutes.

Step 2: Place Your Order

Select the depth of joist you require (deeper joists will span further), the span and the spacing, then add any drawings you might have. Don't worry if you don't have any—we will give you a ring if we need more information.

Step 3: We'll Phone You & Send a Design

Before even looking in the direction of a saw, we'll give you a ring to check all your measurements are correct. If everything looks good, we'll then send you our design for you to have a look through. If you need to make any amendments, we're always happy to do this.

Step 4: We'll Begin Manufacturing & Arrange Delivery

Once you've confirmed your order, we can begin manufacturing your Posi-Joists. One of our team will be in contact to arrange delivery on a day that suits you.

Strength

The main benefit of the Posi Joist lies in its inherent strength and stiffness. Thanks to the clever combination of timber and steel in their design, Posi-Joists can span greater distances than solid timber, reducing or even eliminating the need for load-bearing walls or steel beams.

Service Routing

Thanks to their open-web structure, Posi-Joists can accommodate various services without modification. With solid joists, an installer would have to drill, cut and hack away material, potentially limiting their strength and performance.

Weight

A Posi Joist uses less material to achieve the same strength as solid timber, making it significantly lighter.

Ease of installation

Posi-Joists are manufactured to the size of your building and can be simply dropped into place. If your building isn't perfectly straight, Posi-Joists can be supplied with trimmable ends.

Quality

Posi-Joists are designed in specialist software and produced under factory-controlled conditions, ensuring an unmatched level of quality every time.

No shrinkage

Posi-Joists don't suffer from shrinkage or distortion, a typical cause for a squeaky floor.

Whether you're a complete beginner with no knowledge of the industry building a small extension or a seasoned veteran constructing multiple homes, our MiTek trained designers will effortlessly turn your requirements into clear, lifelike designs, allowing you to view 3D models of your proposed project with our Posi-Joists in place. Our design team are on hand to assist you with every step of your project, from initial enquiry through to installation.

If you have a project that is a little too complex for online ordering, get in contact here and have a chat. We're a friendly bunch.

We have some of the best toys in the industry. We have invested over £2.5M in our brand new facility and have used almost 20 years of manufacturing experience to ensure it does exactly what we want. It’s the secret to turning your project around in as little as 5 days.

Our Saws

We run two Hundegger saws from Germany. These saws are truly incredible, allowing us to cut the timber for your project at an astonishing pace whilst achieving pin-point accuracy. The saws are fed directly from our design office and will optimise the use of every length of timber for minimal waste.

Assembling the Trusses

Once the timber components are cut, they're moved to one of our posi presses. Our skilled assemblers will then set out the timbers of your Posi-Joist on the press. The timbers are then clamped by the press to ensure they are perfectly straight and the correct depth is maintained. The steel webs are then accurately positioned in place and pressed, completing the Posi-Joist.

Timber Quality

Even the timber we use is specific to roof trusses and Posi-Joists. It's sourced from Sweden, where the cold climate ensures the tree grows slow and straight, resulting in a higher quality and more consistent product. The grading is called TR26, and is unlikely to be found at any builders merchants.

Delivery

Once the manufactured components are ready, other items such as metalwork, bracing and any additional timber will be picked to complete your order. The project is then loaded onto one of our vehicles for delivery straight to your site. From the point of confirming your order with us, we can deliver in just 5 working days.

Manufacturing Your Posi-Joists

After a designer has produced a design and you've approved it, it will be sent down to our factory to be manufactured.
