Testimonial

"We are a small construction company based in London, and it is often difficult for us to find larger suppliers willing to work with businesses of our size. Tailor Made Designs, however, approached our project with exceptional professionalism from the very beginning. The scope of work involved supplying a flat roof built with posi-joists and three rooflights, designed to support a green roof. The roof had an irregular shape, with only one corner at a right angle. The TMD advisors asked us for simple dimensions and quickly provided a detailed 3D design along with a full schedule of joists, including their lengths and sizes. They also supplied all the required metalwork (connectors, hangers, etc.).The pricing was very competitive, and the delivery took place exactly as agreed. As an extra nice touch, we even received T-shirts :)Based on our experience, we can wholeheartedly recommend Tailor Made Design as a professional and reliable company."

  • Often No Need for Crane

Hiring a crane in London is expensive, difficult and often simply not viable due to the densely populated nature of the city. Streets are narrow, buildings are close to one another and closing roads would cost you your right arm and first born child. Dependent on the size of the trusses, they can often be offloaded and lifted into place by hand.

  • Better Use of Space

Trussed roofs can be designed to maximise usable internal space while still meeting height restrictions common in London boroughs. This is particularly valuable for loft conversions, infill sites and multi-unit residential schemes where every centimetre counts.

  • Quick to Install

Like most things in London, the price of labour is higher than in other areas. Roof trusses can be installed in as little as a day and require no costly modifications. If you're in the trade then you're welcome, you've now got more time, and if you're paying someone then you're also welcome, you've saved some money. Win-win.

  • Consistency for Building Control

Factory-engineered trusses provide predictable structural performance, clear calculations and easier sign-off for Building Control, which reduces delays on inspected stages.

  • Thermal Efficiency

Speaking of building control, trusses, with their factory-made, predictable and highly accurate dimensions, allow for easy insulation and membrane installation, making it easier to meet Part L energy targets.

  • Reliability

Roof trusses are extremely consistent and precise thanks to their truss-specific, kiln-dried TR26 graded timber. This reduces the liklihood of warping or water ingress over time.

Wide Range of Vehicles

With our own fleet of vehicles, ranging from a LWB van to a 40T artic, we're able to deliver just about anywhere, including London's narrow and congested streets. Most of which are ULEZ compliant, too.

What types of roof truss are available?

Common types include attic trusses, fink trusses, scissor trusses, raised tie trusses and mono trusses, each serving specific architectural needs.
