Do You Need a Crane to Unload & Fit Trusses?

When purchasing trusses, you might be tempted to cut costs by not hiring a crane, forklift or farm vehicle to unload and fit your trusses (most, if not all, manufacturers don't have hiabs as it removes vital space that would be used for larger trusses). In many cases, this is absolutely fine, and the trusses will be light enough to unload and fit by hand. On all of our quotes, we include the weight of each truss to allow you to plan accordingly. As you can see, the job below is definitely light enough that it could be unloaded by yourself and a friend.

But, there will come a point where they're too heavy and awkward to unload by hand. Whether the truss/joist is too heavy for you and a friend (or a few friends) to unload is down to your own judgement, but if you're able to borrow a telehandler, forklift or similar, it'll make life a lot easier when tackling heavier loads, and is something we would recommend.
