Do Roof Trusses Need to be Treated?

We often get asked whether roof trusses need to be treated, and the simple answer is no, unless you live in the areas marked by the map below.

If you live within these areas, you have to live with a helpful little guy called the House Longhorn Beetle. He loves to eat trusses, and for some reason doesn't like to stray from these areas. To prevent your roof falling in on you in the middle of the night, all trusses supplied to these areas have to be treated. If you don't live within these areas, and your trusses are in a dry, well ventilated space, there is no requirement to treat them.

If you'd prefer the peace of mind (perhaps you live near these areas), we'll happily treat your timber for you, but just be aware it does add around 10% to the price.
